Gaze-reactive digital artwork
2025
More often than not the images we see in our daily lives are not of our own choosing. Instead they are the responsibility of a personalized algorithm unknown to the viewer, whose goal is to attract and hold our attention.
The abundance of visual material creates a flicker. In the hustle and bustle of everyday life, it is difficult to delve into the details, because not everything in front of our eyes is worth careful attention. The amount of information and the variety of colors are tiring, but it is difficult to look away.
This work challenges the viewer to look until they get tired. If the frozen image visible out of the corner of their eye intrigues them, when they turn their head to the screen, it is immediately and inevitably replaced by the next one, followed by the next one, and the next one. They are relentless and do not mean much, except for what they reflect.
The images used in the work were obtained from databases, which mostly contain randomly selected visual material borrowed from the Internet. It is complemented by photos of celebrity faces, animals, vegetables, COVID-19 lung X-rays, and chess pieces.
